We design MEL systems, implement programs on the ground, and build reporting infrastructure that satisfies donor requirements — ensuring women, youth, people with disabilities, and indigenous and marginalised communities are visible in your data, not assumed.

  • Indigenous peoples' organisations
  • CBOs and local NGOs

Especially those serving

Our Values

Our Vision

To be East Africa’s leading think-and-do partner—shaping how programs are designed, delivered, and evaluated through evidence and discipline.

Our Mission

To improve livelihoods by turning development ideas into structured, measurable programs that deliver real-world impact—not just on paper.

Our expertise

How we deliver results

GEDSI through GALS Methodology

Turning inclusion into measurable outcomes at household and community level. We apply GALS to translate GEDSI commitments into evidence donors recognise — including vision journey mapping, gender balance analysis, and household-level behaviour change integrated into MEL systems.

Market Systems Development

Designing interventions that strengthen systems, not just beneficiaries. We identify the constraints, incentives, and relationships that determine whether smallholder farmers and marginalised producers can access markets sustainably — and design programs that shift those systems.

Inclusive Value Chains & Food Systems

Market access backed by resilient systems. We support value chain development for smallholder farmers, integrating climate-smart agriculture, food safety, and rural finance to ensure programs hold under real-world conditions.

MEL Systems & Donor Reporting

Frameworks that stand up to scrutiny. OECD-DAC and DCED-aligned systems with GEDSI and climate indicators built in — supported by real-time dashboards that give donors and program teams visibility beyond periodic reports.

Technology-Enabled Delivery

Data systems that work in the field. Mobile data collection (KoboToolbox), STATA analysis, and Power BI dashboards — replacing paper-based processes with structured, reliable data flows, even in low-connectivity environments.

Our Focus & Sectors

Agriculture & Food Systems

Climate-smart agriculture, food safety, and value chain support for smallholder farmers.

Rural Finance & Financial Inclusion

Expanding access to savings, credit, and insurance for underserved rural communities.

Market Systems & Value Chains

Market systems development that strengthens incentives, relationships, and long-term sustainability.

Empowerment & Livelihoods

Enterprise development, GALS, and market linkages for women, youth, and indigenous communities.

We also support cross-sector programs in health, education, and governance where strong MEL systems, GEDSI integration, and program delivery are required.

Climate + GEDSI — the competitive edge

We integrate GEDSI and climate lenses together — ensuring adaptation strategies reflect the realities of women, youth, and marginalised communities. This combined lens is where the most competitive funding windows are heading.

Climate & Resilience Integration

Climate is now a funding gate. FCDO, GIZ, EU, and local funders increasingly require programs to demonstrate climate awareness and resilience.

At Agcenture, climate considerations are integrated at every stage, not as a separate service, but as a mandatory lens across all our work.

FAQ

General Questions

What you need to Know about development consulting in Kenya. Find Quick answers below. For deeper guides see our Knowledge Hub

Finding the right donor starts with matching your program's Theory of Change to a funder's thematic priorities. Kenya's most active CSR funders include Safaricom Foundation, Equity Foundation, KCB Foundation, and Kenya Breweries Foundation. International donors active in Kenya include USAID, GIZ, FCDO, and the European Union, each with distinct application processes and compliance requirements.

Agcenture helps organisations across the full funding cycle — identifying the right windows, writing competitive proposals, and managing ongoing donor relationships. Critically, we also design MEL systems that generate the evidence donors need to renew funding across future cycles, and provide compliance reporting so your relationship with funders stays strong beyond the first grant. Read our full 2025 CSR Donors guide for detailed profiles of Kenya's top 20 funders.

Agcenture provides practical, hands-on training designed to build internal capacity for MEL systems, data use, and program delivery — not just theory.

Our training is tailored for NGOs, CBOs, and program teams that need to collect better data, analyse it effectively, and meet donor reporting requirements with confidence.

Key training areas:

  • MEL systems & data collection (KoboToolbox, indicators, data quality)
  • Data analysis & reporting (STATA, Power BI dashboards)
  • GEDSI & GALS (mainstreaming and facilitator training)
  • Organisational capacity building (including financial literacy for program beneficiaries)

Training is delivered in-person across Nairobi, Nakuru, Mombasa, Kisumu, and Eldoret Cities, and remotely for partners across East Africa.

We also customise training packages based on your program, team capacity, and donor requirements.

GEDSI — Gender Equality, Disability and Social Inclusion — is a framework used by FCDO, GIZ, EU, and USAID to ensure programs actively include vulnerable groups: women, people with disabilities, youth, and indigenous peoples. It is increasingly a funding requirement, not just a best practice.

GALS — Gender Action Learning System — is the community-led methodology Agcenture uses to translate GEDSI commitments into measurable outcomes at household and community level. Through vision journey mapping, gender balance tree analysis, and couple action learning, GALS shifts power dynamics from within — rather than imposing change from outside. At Agcenture, GEDSI and GALS are integrated into MEL frameworks and donor reporting from day one, not added as afterthoughts. We also integrate Climate and GEDSI together — ensuring adaptation strategies reflect the realities of the most vulnerable.

MEL consulting costs in Kenya vary widely depending on scope, complexity, and whether the work is once-off or ongoing.

Typical market ranges are:

  • Basic MEL frameworks (small NGOs): KES 50,000 – 150,000
  • Full MEL system design (donor-funded programs): KES 150,000 – 500,000+
  • Program evaluations (midterm/endline): From KES 500,000 to several million, depending on scale, geography, and methodology
  • Ongoing MEL support (retainer): KES 30,000 – 150,000/month

At Agcenture, we structure our pricing to give organisations flexible access to professional MEL capacity without the cost of a full-time hire:

  • Monthly MEL Retainer (Shared Services)
From KES 45,000/month for ongoing MEL support, donor reporting, and dashboards
  • MEL Starter Package
KES 85,000 for a complete framework including GEDSI and climate indicators, KoboToolbox setup, and first report
  • Proposal + Compliance Bundle
From KES 120,000 including grant proposal writing with GEDSI and climate integration plus reporting support
  • Full Evaluations & Program Implementation
Scoped based on geographic coverage, sample size, and donor requirements

Our model is designed for NGOs, CBOs, and indigenous peoples organisations that need reliable MEL systems, reporting, and compliance support — without committing to a full-time in-house team.

Not sure where your project fits? Get in touch and we’ll recommend the most cost-effective approach based on your program size and donor requirements.

For most NGO and development program data collection in Kenya, KoboToolbox is the stronger choice. It is free for humanitarian and development use, works offline in low-connectivity field settings — including remote counties like Embu, Meru, Kirinyaga, and Tharaka Nithi — and is widely accepted by USAID, FCDO, GIZ, and EU donors as a credible data collection platform.

Qualtrics is more powerful for large-scale corporate research and complex survey logic, but carries licensing costs that most NGOs and CBOs in Kenya cannot justify. Agcenture uses KoboToolbox as standard for all field data collection across our programs, combined with STATA for statistical analysis and Power BI for real-time donor dashboards. We also provide KoboToolbox training for NGO and CBO field teams as part of our capacity building services.

The strongest proposals share four characteristics ;

  • A clear problem statement grounded in field evidence.
  • A credible Theory of Change showing how activities lead to outcomes.
  • A realistic budget matched to the scope.
  • A GEDSI strategy demonstrating how women, youth, and marginalised groups benefit.
  • Most competitive proposals for GIZ, FCDO, EU, and CSR donors in Kenya now also require for climate risk and resilience sustainability section.

Agcenture writes proposals across all these donor frameworks and critically, we back them with the MEL system design and field implementation capacity that makes funders confident you can deliver. A well-written proposal attached to an organisation with no M&E track record rarely gets funded. We help you build both. Our proposals have secured first-submission funding under GIZ and FCDO windows.

Climate-responsive MEL integrates climate risk screening, resilience indicators, and environmental safeguard tracking into your monitoring and evaluation framework. FCDO, GIZ, the EU Green Deal, and USAID now require programs to demonstrate climate awareness, vulnerability analysis, and adaptation strategies  making it a funding gate, not a nice-to-have.

At Agcenture, we integrate climate lenses alongside GEDSI across all program design, implementation, and evaluation. This means your MEL framework tracks not just gender outcomes but also climate vulnerability reduction, adaptive capacity, and environmental performance  giving you the evidence base to report against the most demanding donor climate requirements. We also integrate Climate and GEDSI together a combined lens that is increasingly where the most competitive funding windows are heading.

Yes to both. Agcenture is currently active in over 40 counties of Kenya. We work where programs are implemented, not just where they are reported. Beyond these counties we support partners across Kenya and East Africa remotely.

We also provide dedicated support for indigenous peoples organisations and CBOs working with marginalised communities across Kenya including program management, MEL, GALS facilitation, and capacity building.

We use participatory research methods adapted for communities with limited literacy, and can support Free, Prior and Informed Consent (FPIC) process design and documentation where donor programs require it.

Need MEL, compliant reporting, or implementation support?

Whether you need a MEL system that passes donor scrutiny, climate-responsive program implementation, a fundable proposal with GEDSI and climate strategy, or ongoing compliance and reporting for your NGO or CBO in Kenya — we’re ready to engage.
